ATTC Manufacturing will add four differential-case production lines and hire at least eight more people if county council members continue the approval process. In a regular meeting, the council gave their preliminary OK to a tax abatement that would help the company move manufacturing equipment here from Japan.
To complete the granting of the abatement, a public notice must be published and the public must be given opportunity to comment on it, the lawyer explained. That public hearing will occur at the council’s Oct. 27 meeting, which will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the county courthouse.
The abatement would relieve the company of 100 percent of the property taxes on the equipment the first year and 10 percent less each of the following nine years.
The council’s final approval would come as the adoption of a confirmatory resolution after the hearing, attorney Tyler noted. He continued t say that the company and its workers pay not only real-estate and personal-property taxes, but county-option and local-option income taxes.
“A lot of money comes into this community,” he said.
“This is a win-win for both ATTC and the county,” Councilman Chet Mathena said.
